The Meaning of Money

Small, subtle reminders of money elicit two types of behaviors. On the one hand, people reminded of money become highly agentic and motivated to achieve personal goals. On the other, money cues weaken prosocial responding. Data from North America, Europe, Asia, and from children as young as 3 support these claims.
