| The College of Science at Virginia Tech, in support of the university’s strategic plan, is expanding its research presence in: Energy and the Environment, Infectious Diseases, Nanoscience, Neuroscience, and Visualization & Pattern Recognition and Data Analysis through interdisciplinary faculty hires across departments (for further information, visit www.science.vt.edu under faculty openings). As part of the initiative on data analysis and computational science, the Department of Psychology is seeking outstanding applicants for one full-time, tenure track faculty position in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level to start in the Fall of 2013 at our Blacksburg, VA Campus. We seek a candidate who combines a strong quantitative focus with research in one or more areas, including: occupational health, selection and personnel decision making, or team dynamics among other topics. Applicants whose research demonstrates a strong potential for external funding and interdisciplinary connections within the Department and across the University are particularly appealing. The doctoral program in I-O Psychology program develops the ability to carry out problem-focused research that crosses area boundaries and that is of increasing relevance in the social and behavioral sciences. The successful candidates will be expected to establish a vigorous research program, teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, continue development of scholarly activities and professional capabilities, and participate in department, college, and university governance. Occasional travel to attend professional conferences is required. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in psychology or a closely related field, postdoctoral experience, and pass a criminal background check.
