| The Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics (VIPBG), Department of Psychiatry, Virginia Commonwealth University, invites applications for a tenure-eligible faculty position at the (advanced) Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. VIPBG is a highly collaborative interdisciplinary institute that brings together faculty from a diversity of backgrounds with complementary research programs aimed at understanding how genetic and environmental risk factors contribute to psychiatric outcomes and related behavioral outcomes (www.vipbg.vcu.edu). The successful candidate will be expected to have an established research program, and be an engaged collaborator at the Institute. The applicant should have i) an MD or PhD or equivalent in genetics, psychology, biostatistics, epidemiology or a related field; ii) a successful track record of both publication and extramural research funding; and iii) an interest in areas complementary to current VIPBG expertise. In particular, applicants whose research is in the area of (1) clinical and behavioral phenotypes relevant to psychiatric or substance use disorders; (2) psychometrics; or (3) bioinformatics are especially encouraged to apply. The applicant should have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment. The successful applicant will need to have a well developed scholarly/research portfolio with evidence of multi-disciplinary applications and external funding appropriate to complement and expand existing expertise in the department. For appointment at the Assistant Professor level, the faculty member will be required to have either existing or imminent external funding. Applicants at the Associate/Full Professor level with established funding and research portfolios are especially encouraged to apply. Joint appointments are possible with complementary departments.
