The Psychology program at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, invites applications for two faculty positions in clinical or counseling psychology, beginning fall 2013. Candidates who are licensed or license-eligible in Pennsylvania are preferred. Faculty will have the opportunity to be involved in the development and implementation of an anticipated M.A. program. This is an excellent opportunity for dual career couples.

Job #38010 Open Rank Clinical or Counseling Psychology. Qualified candidates will be considered for appointment at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor depending on the level of their qualifications (Ph.D. or Psy.D. required; A.B.D.s considered at the assistant professor level). The successful candidate will teach clinical and counseling psychology courses in his or her area of interest and supervise practicum and thesis work. Both high-quality teaching and an active program of scholarship are expected. Experience securing external funding is encouraged. Research area is open; however, our program is developing a focus on cognitive behavioral treatments for victims of trauma. This may include research and treatment related to resilience and recovery from traumatic experiences of abuse (sexual, physical, and emotional), natural disasters, or war.

Job #38011 Lecturer in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. The position is for a full-time, non-tenure track, lecturer in clinical or counseling psychology to begin fall of 2013 with an initial three-year contract with renewal depending upon need and budgetary considerations. Responsibilities include supervising/coordinating an undergraduate psychology internship program and teaching undergraduate-level clinical and counseling psychology courses. Research and scholarship are encouraged. Master’s degree required; doctorate is preferred. Experience in teaching or supervising graduate students, or graduate curriculum development, is welcome but not required.

The Psychology program has recently renovated laboratory space including a sound-attenuating chamber, individual testing rooms, small group rooms, and observation rooms. Technology and library resources are excellent. Other resources include an on-campus child care center, an applied research and outreach center – Susan Hirt Hagen CORE (Center for Community, Outreach, Research and Evaluation), and affiliation with the Ophelia Project. Funds are also available for faculty professional development.
