Dean: The College of Science and Health

DePaul University

DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, (www.depaul.edu) announces the search for the first permanent dean to head its newest college, the College of Science and Health. Created in 2011 to meet the burgeoning demand for science and health professionals and with enrollment that is growing exponentially, the college is positioned to become one of the nation’s premier academic science and health destinations.

The college offers 13 undergraduate and 20 graduate degree programs, including two doctoral programs. In addition to the school of nursing, departments are biology, chemistry, environmental science, health science, math, physics, psychology, and STEM studies. Current enrollment in the college exceeds 3,200, with almost 2,500 undergraduates and more than 700 graduate students. The operating budget is $23.2 million.

The largest Catholic university in America and one of the nation’s 10 largest private universities (enrollment is 25,000+), DePaul University was founded to further the mission of St. Vincent DePaul and maintains its firm focus on a mission rooted in teaching and service with a strong student-centered emphasis. The university offers more than 275 graduate and undergraduate programs and awards nearly 7,000 degrees annually. In addition to the iconic 40-acre main campus in the heart of Chicago’s Lincoln Park and the Loop campus downtown, DePaul has three suburban campuses as well as multiple international locations.

DePaul’s fiscal health and physical plant are robust. Academic facilities have been upgraded significantly; there is no deferred maintenance; and faculty/staff salaries have been raised annually for many years. Indicative of the strength of its partnerships with foundations, corporations, and private donors, the ongoing capital campaign “Many Dreams, One Mission” surpassed its original $250 million goal two years ahead of the 2014 planned completion date.
