The Department of Human Ecology at the University of California, Davis invites applications for a tenure-track academic-year (9 months) faculty appointment, at the Assistant Professor level, with expertise in development during middle childhood and adolescence. The successful candidate will have an active program of research and demonstrate experience and excellence in one or more of the following areas: social-emotional development, cognitive development, or risk prevention/intervention. The individual who is selected for this position will participate in developing collaborative research projects with faculty in the newly configured Department of Human Ecology (comprised of Human Development and Family Studies; Community and Regional Development; and Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design). We are especially interested in candidates who study the influence of cultural, social, economic, or physical environments on development. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in middle childhood and adolescence, will be a member of the M.S. program in Child Development and the Ph.D. program in Human Development, and will be expected to contribute to the University’s Agricultural Experiment Station mission, to conduct applied research and outreach, with a focus on development in middle childhood and adolescence.

Candidates must hold an earned doctoral or equivalent degree in Human Development, Psychology, Sociology, Education, or other related field and have a strong record of relevant research.
