Developmental Human Neuroscience

The Department of Psychology, University of Massachusetts Amherst, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Developmental Human Neuroscience, starting in Fall 2014.

We seek an outstanding scientist with an established record of innovative research to join our expanding Developmental Science area. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology or a related discipline. The successful candidate will be housed with the Department of Psychology and hold appointments jointly in the Department of Psychology and Commonwealth Honors College.

Candidates with research in any area of human developmental neuroscience will be considered. However, special consideration will be given to candidates whose research interests include Human Developmental Social/Affective or Cognitive Neuroscience. The individual hired will have the unique opportunity to teach courses to honors undergraduate students in psychology and other honors students from around the University who are enrolled in the Commonwealth Honors College (CHC). CHC attracted highly motivated students, and is further enriched by the recent addition of a residential and teaching facility.

Candidates should have a strong commitment to high-quality research and teaching, and a strong record of or clear potential for extramural funding. As this joint position was designed to enhance our undergraduate honors program, the successful candidate should show a particularly strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring.
