The Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 15, 2014. Teaching load may include undergraduate courses (e.g., Abnormal Psychology, Child Psychopathology, Behavior Therapy, Health Psychology, and Substance Abuse) and graduate courses in our Clinical Psychology M.S. program (e.g., Psychotherapy, specialty area courses). While the specific area of research and clinical expertise is open, candidates will be expected to supervise child assessment and therapy cases in our department's Psychology Clinic. The hiring committee is particularly interested in applicants with expertise in substance abuse/addictions, health/pediatric psychology, psychotherapy, and adult or child psychopathology, which would expand our current faculty expertise. The Psychology Department (www.psychology.eku.edu) has 21 full-time faculty members, approximately 800 undergraduate majors and 75 graduate students, and offers four graduate programs: the MS in clinical (MPAC accredited), I-O, and general psychology, and the Psy.S. in school psychology (NASP accredited). The Department also offers an undergraduate degree in Animal Studies. The Psychology Clinic offers a variety of clinical and research opportunities with adults, children, and families, including work with individuals with autism/developmental disabilities, and animal-facilitated therapy. The department has a history of collaborative research with other academic departments and community agencies. Applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching and advising and to developing an active program of scholarship that encourages student involvement. A Ph.D. in clinical psychology or counseling psychology from an APA, regionally accredited and internationally recognized program is strongly preferred; an ABD from such programs is the minimum requirement. Ph.D is required for tenure. Eligibility for eventual licensure as a Psychologist in Kentucky is required.
